What is TED?

Thyroid Eye Disease (Also known as Grave's Disease) is an autoimmune disease that leads to a generalized overactivity of the entire thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism).

Symptoms of TED

The symptoms that consistest of thyroid eye disease include dry eyes, watery eyes, red eyes, bulging eyes, a "stare," double vision, difficulty closing the eyes, and problems with vision.

How is one more likely to get TED?

Individuals who smoke are at a greater risk of developing thyroid eye disease. Individuals who have undergone radioactive iodine therapy as a prior treatment (e.g. for treatment of hyperthyroidism) are at a greater risk of developing thyroid eye disease. -https://rarediseases.org
